Halo 2 is God.

And yes, I meant to type "God" not "Good."

So I picked up Halo 2 this morning, and got a chance to play for a few mins during lunch. Its unreal. Everything about the game is amped up from the original. The graphics are better, the sounds are better, the cut-scenes are more cinemagraphic and they look incredible, the physics is better. The ability to use 2 weapons at once is a little hard to get used to, if you've been playing Halo for a while, but its no big deal. Very early on you encounter some new enemies (flying elites, for example). Plus, the environments are much more interactive. You can now kick around rocks and chairs and things like that (not that it matters).

Anyway. Those are just some quick thoughts about the game.

Avatar Wholeheartedly agreed Jim. A dork of a friend picked up TWO copies last night at midnight and we were playing it. It is just incredible. I love the customizations to the suits that you can do. I was however a bit disappointed to see that two of the multiplayer levels were just revamps of Battle Creek and Blood Gulch. However the size of the city level for multiplayer, awesome.
Good good good stuff.

Avatar Kevin, Kevin, Kevin....

You do realize you set yourself up for allllll sorts of jokes, don't you? The FIRST thing about Halo 2 that you mentioned is the ability to play fashion designer with your profile.

BUT... you are right about the other stuff.

Avatar Only because you mentioned all the other cool ass stuff. The physics of it were in credible. Shoot em in the head, the body flies forward. The inclusion of more vehicles is also very cool and the fact that you can board them is awesome. Not to mention that they actually take damage now and will eventually blow up is attacked.

Avatar I'm asking for an XBox and and Halo 2 for xmas. I may break down and buy one beforehand, though, 'cause I'm just _that_ impatient. Also I don't think anyone will get me one.

Avatar Agree will all above stuff. Marked improvements in the AI, physics, and environments (which were all phenomenal in the original to begin with). Storyline thus far has been great, with some great surprises and twists and turns. Jim, have you gotten to the 'heretic' level yet?

I also like how it's not just an extension of the original. New weapons and vehicles, the physics is different, AI reacts differently, even the weapons that were in the original have different strengths/weaknesses and react differently in this game. Being good at the original definitely helps (controlling the character in particular) but in many ways it's a whole new ball game. Even for the strongest Halo players, Halo2 will really be almost a completely different game.

Last night I forgot to eat dinner and I didn't even notice. At midnight I remembered and thought 'uhhh...i guess i should eat somethin, shouldn't i...'

Zigs was making cracks about wanting to watch Friends reruns. I told him to get his ass upstairs and watch em on his TV...

Avatar Melinda and I bet that you didn't go to sleep last night.

No, I don't think I've beaten heretic yet. I'm not that far, since I've only had the chance to play during lunches and a little bit last night before Melinda got home. I'm just got past the part where you drive the tank over the bridge in the city. Thats about it. I also spent quite a bit of time in Multiplayer mode, just messing around with the different weapons and vehicles and stuff. Plus, I ate dinner last night.

I agree about the differences though. I noticed that you couldn't just cap the hunters in the back for an easy kill anymore (at least not with the two weapons I was equiped with.. I didn't have the pistol.)

Avatar Soooo... I went and bought an Xbox. And Halo 2 (extra-dorky addition, w/ the extra dvd; hey only another $5), and another controller. Totally worth it.

I played for several hours (until Heretic, I think), then GI Joel came over and we played coop until a few levels after that. Then I went back and played single player more. Protip: GI Joel Sucks at Halo, having never played before.

I really like picking off enemy snipers (haven't tried that on legendary yet...). I've had a couple issues with clipping, and sometimes the "advanced" textures not loading fast enough (typically in cutscenes), but it's still a hell of a lot of fun.

Avatar Yeah, I get those same problems... Plus, it doesn't fit on my screen.

Avatar Well, after playing for far too many hours in a row, I beat it on normal difficulty.

And boy howdy does the ending suck.

Avatar ENDING SUCKS!!!

Given that Bungie has said they're moving on to another project and not doing a Halo 3, at least for now, I expected closure in the ending.

Not in the least. Remember the first time you watched Empire Strikes Back, where in the ending Darth tells Luke he's his father, and they get away, and that's the end of it? It's just a cliffhanger that leaves you yearning for more...Same sort of thing here.

Very disappointing ending for such a phenomenal game.

Avatar You've played it all the way thru to the ending already? Jeasus.

Anyone hear that you get banninated from XBox Live if you've got a modded XBox? Have any of you BIG DORKS modded your boxes?

Avatar At least with Star Wars it was only one piece of information that was left hanging. It really feels like they lopped off a "last" mission.

And yes, they seem to be stepping up the banning of modded xboxes from what I've read.

Avatar i dont even think i know what a modded xbox means.
:: Response posted on 2004-11-15 by dan
Avatar by adding a chip and some illegal software to the xbox motherboard you can swap out the 8G harddrive with whatever you can afford . Then you can store whole games on the harddrive

Avatar Hey Woody: Can you take my last name off of this last post?

My Boss called me in today after he google'd my name and he and I had an embarrassing conversation on exactly why I'm a douche. I don't care if the whole rest of the post stays the way it is - it's completely in the past as far as I'm concered. just my last name.
thanks.
