I want one of these so bad I can hardly stand it.

Five hundred bucks. 6.5" square, 2" tall; 2.9 lbs.

They crammed an unbelievable amount of stuff into that tiny thing: ethernet, modem, Bluetooth, Wireless, CD-RW/DVD-RW, 1.42GHz G4, 1GB RAM (PC2700), 80GB HD, Radeon 9200. (that's the max config, anyway).

Not to mention all the other cool crap.

Avatar Yeah, its Apple's "bargain" computer. Considering a bargain PC can go for as little as 250 bucks, I'd be willing to bet this thing will rock, since Macs are usually a bit more, but have fantastic features.

I'd buy one.

But I gotta get myself a new monitor first.

Avatar that is pretty unbelievable.

Disco, we just got a new Mac computer in our lab at school.

We got a G% with dual 2 GHz processors, 2.5 Gig of ram, and the monitor my boss bought with it is a 23 inch widescreen HD monitor. He also bought final cut pro HD. We can do some kewl stuff now.

Avatar well we got the computer for some video capture stuff, and then to do some editing of the video if necessary. My boss said he got the program because he got it for about a quarter of the normal price. He got the whole system for a good deal.

I was talking to the "uber nerd" from the campus mac store and apparantly our mac store is one of the cheapest places in the country to buy macs from. He said they just sold the army over 2000 computers, and that other universities buy computers from us too. For example he said that right now you can get an ibook for about 400 dollars. So if anyone is shopping for mac stuff let me know I might be able to get it cheap for ya.

Avatar I find it difficult to believe Apple would have a store that would sell stuff that cheap, based on how strict they are with their pricing policies with everyone else. (which is why you never see a Mac for sale cheaper somewhere than somewhere else; it's always bundles that are the differentiator).

Anyway, I think I talked/conned my boss today into getting one for us at work so we can easily test the stuff we write on mac browsers as well. I'm way excited.

I told him we needed a wireless keyboard and mouse, along with a 30" Cinema Display so I could test stuff from across the room as well, but I don't think he bought that.

Avatar well disco I do know this. For our new computer he paid 1900, for out 23 inch cinema display he paid 1200. From looking at mac's website, that is quite a bit less than the prices on there.

Avatar From what I understand, like the iPod, the MacMini cannot be opened by the consumer. I heard this from an audio stream from Leo Lapote while at MacWord.
