Avatar Coolio.

I just noticed that the "comments / post a comment / forums" line overlaps on the dropdown box at the bottom of an article. This is in FF 1.0.4 on Win32.

Who writes content for the site, other than you?

Avatar Yeah, I get that bug sometimes too, but then it goes away. Its positioned with:

position: absolute;
bottom: 1px;

(along with some other things) but it doesn't behave the same way all of the time.

As for the writers, so far its me and Kenyon, along with 4-5 other people he knows from California, pretty much all of them in the gaming industry.

Also, another note: We've already made it into Blue's News. They are running a link to the We Love Katamari article
(http://www.game-instructions.com/previews/we-love-katamari-hands-on-preview/)

Avatar I have a question about how you did things....

When you go to the page for a game (MC3 DUB), and they you choose the instructions tab, why do you have another link someone has to click? Why not just have the original go right to the instructions?

Avatar Well, thats kind of a complicated question. The short answer is - time. I was working hard to get this thing online, so what you describe is a feature that I put off for now. The way I figure it, I may irritate a couple of readers, but on the other hand, I'll get a couple more page views as well. Generically, most of those pages were written so there can be multiple items per game - thus, there can be multiple articles, previews, news etc. You can have multiple instructions, although that doesn't make much sense. Yes, to be a perfect system - multiple content items or not - it should automatically take you to the item if there is only one. But like I said, a lot of it was a time issue.

Avatar no one's asked the important question yet: how many ads do I need to click on before you owe me a beer?

Avatar Well, considering that its all PSAs right now, zero.. or an infinate number.. whatever.

Avatar Update:

Day 1 of GIC dished out about 7500 pages. Taken out to a full month this would be 225,000 pages per month. Depending on what you know about websites - specifically websites in the same market as game-instructions.com, this may or may not sound impressive. If the site had been going for a year or two and the traffic had settled down to those numbers, it would be a nice little website but it wouldn't be eyebrow raising. If it gets up to a million pages a month, then we've got something to talk about. Some of the top sites in the industry get upwards of 100 million per month. This website, jimdrewes.com, only gets about 5-10k pages a month.

Of course, its only been one day of traffic. Depending on what sort of dedicated readership develops, and how many other sites start linking to the articles, its very hard to make traffic predictions just yet.

Avatar how are you advertising?

Avatar I'm taking the Disco Stu approach right now... I'm not advertising. I'm just running those PSAs as placeholders.

Avatar I wasn't talking about the psa's... How are *you* advertising? How are you getting the word out to the internet people that game-instructions.com exists?

Avatar With my good looks and brilliant smile.

Avatar Anyone know anything about pagerank?

Why is game-instructions.com already at a PR of 5 (even though its not even indexed in google yet) whereas www.game-instructions.com is a PR of 0?
