Goodbye SBC, hello Charter.

So, I called SBC to cancel the DSL. They asked if I was keeping the phone service, I said yes, but just until we have Vonage installed. Then, they have their phone operators trained to spew out this scare tactic line, "so does Vonage finally have 911 service now?" Well, the answer to the question is - sorta. You gotta tell Vonage where you are physically located, but after that, yes they do have 911 service although it is slightly different. I just don't appreciate SBC trying to scare me out of cancelling their service. Then, the guy tells me my turn-off date is 4 days from now. I don't care, but they are going to charge us for those 4 days. What a shady service. What is to prevent them from saying it takes 5 or 6 days, or even longer just to get a few extra bucks out of me? I am so glad I'm getting away from SBC. I just wish we had done it sooner. Back
