I know that the majority of you are not hockey fans, but along with the return of the upcoming hockey season comes some big changes to the way the game is being played. Changes that i know Kenyon and I are excited about.
1) No more tie games : now when the third period ends and the game is tied there is a 5-minute OT and if nobody has scored we go to a shoot-out. 3 players on each team are selected and take penalty shots with the team with the highest goal total winning.
2) 2-Line passing is legal : woo-hoo! fewer interruptions in gameplay and more breakaways makes for a much more active, and in my opinion, exciting game.
3) Smaller goalie pads : Okay, maybe not extremely significant going from 12-inch pads to 11-inch pads, but still leaves room for the puck to get through and therefore more goals per game.

Avatar thats great. is any of that gonna make hockey NOT suck? i mean, is it gonna cost me less than 60 bucks to buy one ticket to a blues game?

i guess i shouldnt be so hateful towards hockey. i mean, without hockey we'd never have had NHL Hitz. now there is a game.

Avatar That's good, my main complaint about hockey is how rediculously unbalanced it could be. it seemed like all a team needed to make it to, and even sometimes win, the finals is a hot, dominant goalie. Helping out the offense = helping out the more balanced teams.

Avatar It's be even better if they had bayonettes on the handle end of their sticks. Get some real slashing in hockey.

Avatar Now, if they replaced the plexi-glass with hollywood breakaway glass, so you could have some Hitz style play - then you'd have something.

Avatar I agree with Timmuh, in that I think hockey will be a more exciting game when it returns. Worth the ticket prices (which pretty much aren't changing) is a matter of personal opinion.

Avatar Yeah, i am not a huge fan of going to the games (obviously the ticket prices have a lot to do with that), but i do enjoy watching it on TV.

Avatar being fairly ignorant in these matters, how much does a hockey ticket typically run?

How about football?

I've been to a couple baseball games but never paid for them.

Avatar Why Timmy is so right:

2 line passes will entirely open up the game and give the defense a much harder time. This will hopefully lead to higher scoring games and more lightning quick action. Look for good things coming from the leagues premeir forwards. They will actually be proving out how much they are worth...

Avatar How about - when you get three goals, you set the team on fire.

Avatar Which team, the one that scored the goals or the one that got scored on?
